Building Relationships with Policy Makers - Main

Use these tips and tools as you establish and strengthen ties to your elected officials.

Before a meeting, consult these Do's and Don'ts for making contact with policy makers.

Use our sample scripts and letters for calling, writing or faxing Congress and the President.

Set up a site visit to give policy makers a personal connection to your program and to show them the benefits of afterschool programs firsthand.  We provide scheduling tips, plus a sample program, invitation and thank you.

Use Lights On Afterschool to reach out to policy makers.

Use the Afterschool for All national campaign to reach out to policy makers.

Organize a letter writing campaign in your community. Contact the Afterschool Alliance to request postcards for the project.
